Outstanding traction, increased driving dynamics and more driving safety. Or to put it briefly: Quattro. Hardly any other drive brings the engine's power to the road so confidently. In a technical variant, the central component is the self-locking centre differential. In its basic design, this purely mechanical planetary gear distributes drive torques asymmetrically to favour driving dynamics.

The dual-clutch transmission, consisting of two sub-transmissions, switches by changing the power-transmitting clutch. The gear shifting process is precise, extremely quick and without almost any tractive effort interruption. The 8-stage Tiptronic is a fast and automatic torque converter with high efficiency. Thanks to the eight stages, speed jumps between the gears remain small, and the engine always runs close to its ideal load point. The lower gears are short for a sporty feel, while the higher gears have a long transmission ratio to reduce revs and consumption. The RS sports suspension plus with dynamic ride control (DRC) is available as an option to enhance the sporty driving characteristics.

Steel springs and shock absorbers with variable characteristic curves reduce pitch and roll movements around the transverse and longitudinal axis using hydraulics alone. The dampers, positioned diagonally opposite to each other, are connected to each other via oil lines and one central valve each. When the dampers are immersed in different ways, for example, when going round corners at high speeds, the valves act on the oil flow at the deflected wheel. They reinforce the support there, thereby reducing the lateral angle and increasing the driving dynamics. The standard high-performance brake systems are extremely powerful: The 6 or 8-piston fixed callipers on the front axle ensure a powerful grip. The axial perforation and cooling channels for internal ventilation increase the performance of brake pads - their material mix contributes to weight reduction. The optional ceramic brake has been developed for tougher conditions.

With brake disks made of carbon fibre reinforced ceramic - hard silicon carbide, embedded in the durable carbon fibre. Even under high thermal loads, they convince with good timing and dosage.

Individual vehicle components can be managed via the Multi Media Interface (MMI) to adapt them to the current driving situation. With the Audi RS 6 performance, for example, engine characteristics, exhaust flap control, transmission mode, damper control and the steering torque of the electro-mechanical power steering can be set in four different modes: auto, comfort, dynamic and individual. Other optional systems can also be adapted - such as the characteristic curves of the shock absorbers of the RS sports suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC). The specified fuel consumption and emission data have been determind according to the measurement procedures prescribed by law. Since 1st September 2017, certain new vehicles are already being type-approved according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), a more realistic test procedure for measuring fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Starting on September 1st 2018, the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) will be replaced by the WLTP in stages.

Owing to the more realistic test conditions, the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions measured according to the WLTP will, in many cases, be higher than those measured according to the NEDC. Therefore, the usage of CO2 emission values measured according to WLTP for vehicle taxation from 1st September 2018 on can cause changes in this regards as well. For further information on the differences between the WLTP and NEDC, please visit. We are currently still required by law to state the NEDC figures. In the case of new vehicles which have been type-approved according to the WLTP, the NEDC figures are derived from the WLTP data. It is possible to specify the WLTP figures voluntarily in addition until such time as this is required by law.

In cases where the NEDC figures are specified as value ranges, these do not refer to a particular individual vehicle and do not constitute part of the sales offering. They are intended exclusively as a means of comparison between different vehicle types. Additional equipment and accessories (e.g. Add-on parts, different tyre formats, etc.) may change the relevant vehicle parameters, such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics, and, in conjunction with weather and traffic conditions and individual driving style, may affect fuel consumption, electrical power consumption, CO 2 emissions and the performance figures for the vehicle.
