. VST instruments: These plug-ins generate audio and are either virtual synthesizers or samplers. Many VST instruments emulate the appearance and sound of famous hardware synthesizers. Popular VSP instruments include Massive, FM8, Absynth, Sylenth 1, Reaktor, Gladiator, Vanguard, and Omnisphere. VST effects: Effects process audio instead of generating it. VST effects function like hardware audio processors, like reverbs and phasers. VST MIDI effects: MIDI plug-ins process MIDI messages and send MIDI data to other VST instruments and hardware.
Aside from VST plug-ins, you'll also find VST-instrument or VSTi plug-ins. These can emulate really cool, but expensive, hardware (like Hammond B3 and Nord Electro). The quality of these VSTi plug-ins can vary from acceptable to really poor; it all depends on the quality of your system resources (RAM and scratch space on your hard drive, for example), and how well-sampled the instrument is. You also want to make sure that your VSTi plug-in offers true polyphonic content, meaning you can make life-like chords that don’t sound too artificial.
There are thousands of plug-ins available. Some only take a few hours to produce and are free, but the quality is terrible. Some are made by huge companies and sound amazing, but are expensive. VST plug-in developers try to recreate the sound as closely as possible, but the original instrument is probably always going to sound better than the plug-in.
You might be trying to get the rich, full-bodied sound of an organ, for example, but who owns an organ? No one has access to every type of instrument, so a plug-in will have to do. The good news is that VST plug-in technology is improving, so quality can only get better with time. Created by Steinberg, a German musical software, and equipment company, the VST plug-in standard is the audio plug-in standard that allows third-party developers to make VST plug-ins. Users can download VST plug-ins on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. The vast majority of VST plug-ins are available on Windows.
Apple’s Audio Units are standard on Mac OS X (it’s actually considered a competing technology), and Linux lacks commercial popularity, therefore few developers create VST plug-ins for the operating system.

Expandable with all UVI sounds and instruments. non-scripted UVI libraries now work fine under UVI Workstation 2 Deeveloper: (Win). What is hypercyclic?:. an LFO-driven MIDI arpeggiator, gate effect and step sequencer. for mangling sustained MIDI input chords.
the output of which can then drive other MIDI instruments. acts either as a VST or Audio Unit plugin for your DAW, or as a standalone application. the original hypercyclic won 2nd place in the KVRAudio.com Developer Challenge '07. the sweetspot for hypercyclic is the narrow border between chaos and regularity. Or, in other words, how to induce a certain pleasant randomness and syncopation, yet forcing everything to align again on the bar or beat boundaries. How do you use it?:. the main use for hypercyclic is to generate MIDI that can be recorded and/or sent to other plugins.
However it also features a simple built-in synth for testing purposes. you can use two tempo-synced LFOs to modulate various parameters for creating interesting rhythmic effects and chord variations. a unique feature is the possiblity to modulate the sequencer step size itself, which is useful for creating glitchy stuttering effects. another thing you can use is a groove function for playing slightly off the beat. The groove parameters can also be modulated over time by the LFOs, adding to the rhythmic variation.
Now with 64-bit support. Developer: (Win, OS/X, LINUX). This one is for all the Dub and Reggae people out there. It emulates the sounds of the self-made siren units used by Sound Systems like Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti and countless others. Simple synthesizer architecture with 1 Oscillator and 2 independent LFOs (LFO1: rectified sine LFO2: pulse) additional chopper circuit to mute the sound during the low phase of LFO2. Tape delay emulation with high pass and low pass filter in the feedback path.
Adjustable simulation of tape hiss. (useful for endless delays at high tape saturation levels). MIDI learn: Each control can be automated via MIDI controllers. The default assignment of MIDI controllers is documented in the pop-up hints. To assign a different controller right-click on a control then choose 'Learn' from the pop-up menu and twiggle the hardware controller you want to assign.
Alternatively choose 'Unlearn' or 'Edit.' To assign a controller from a list. Developer: (Win). The integrated 'Safe Bass' algorithm centers all bass frequencies below a adjustable value right back into the middle of the stereo field. This gives your tracks the solidity and definition you want while preserving maximum transpancy and sharpness. Similar techniques were used by professional studio producers over ages with either expansive hardware devices like elliptical equalizers or even advanced m/s-processors. With this plugin you will be able to manage this complicated task with a minimum effort.
Features:. Two tap delay. BPM based times, with dotted time button.
'Explode' Trigger to do controlled feedback loops in one click. MIDI Learn.
Panic button. Pitch-Mod (simulation of tape speed fluctuations).
What's new in 1.75:. Unused (useless) invisible parameters have been removed.
Fixed bug related to internal ' QuickSine.sep' that caused a crash in Reaper and could potentially crash on other hosts. Slight (very small) CPU improvement after the fix. OverDubber is a two tap delay focused towards Dub creation and Live use Developer: (Win).
Amplio is a way to enhance boring and dull sound. It's a 3 band Equalizer with adjustable bands and additional multiband effect modules. The plug-in is originally designed to enhance drum patterns but it is powerful enough to be used on any type of sound. Reverb effect routable to any of three bands will add more space to mix and Soft Limiter will prevent any clipping on final output.
Version 2 changes:. New multiband Noise gate with envelope controls will help you totally change your beat and create something new. Total overhaul of user interface, faster load and smaller file-size. Improved controls.
You can now use right mouse click to set default values and double right mouse click to set value to zero on all controls. Holding shift while dragging will increase sensitivity for better value settings. No more overlapping band control points on Frequency splitter.
Improved Reverb and fixed wet/dry mix. Low band saturation now working correctly. Improved soft limiter to work better with distortion module. Control the stereo field with new multiband stereo balance module. Handy gadget for centering bass frequencies. Assembly optimization of all modules in order to save as much cycles as possible.
Even with new noise gate CPU usage is same or even better than in previous version. Adjusted all existing presets and added new 14 new presets. Total 66 presets including Amplio presets that use Distortion module. Version 1.1 changes:. additional optimization (up to 12% CPU usage reduction).
added knob readout for reverb module. new distort module (see the attached audio demo). Developer: (Win). Features:.

This version of MrRay is characterized by a series of 'imperfections' introduced in order to capture, with the highest possible fidelity, the sound of a Mark I. There are mallet noises, wooden noises, metallic artifacts and changes of volume for each single note. Also, the lower notes have a particular 'growl' when you hit them hard, and when you hit more keys really hard, you'll hear them 'vibrating', originally due to the instability of the harp assembly inside the real instrument. You won't hear the exact same sound twice when you play it. When keys are released you'll hear the noises produced by the 'dampers' which stop the vibration of the tines.
