These sites are provided simply as good examples. By request, will be added for those sites added within a six-month period. They will be deleted every six months or so as new materials are added. The new adds are not necessarily the best adds, just the most recent.

While this month’s Survivor Series (the 30th edition, by the way!) will have Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar on the marquee, the bulk of the show will be a trio of Survivor Series matches pitting RAW’s and Smackdown’s rosters against one another. It’s a welcome change from the recent days of Team vs. Team. But probably still a far cry from the event’s earlier days when the teams had cool names (like 4x4s or Teamsters or Warriors or Rude Brood).

This week’s Live Retro Blog doesn’t feature Survivor Series teams with cool names, but it does feature two of the greatest collections of talent ever assembled in what was only the highest stakes ever: the losing side ceases to exist. It’s the 2001 edition of Survivor Series, taking place November 18, 2001 from the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Invasion era ends tonight, as one elimination tag team match will decide the fate of two entities: the WWF and the ECW/WCW Alliance. Representing the WWF will be WCW World Heavyweight Champion The Rock, Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, Kane, and The Big Show. Representing the Alliance will be WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, WWF Hardcore Champion Rob Van Dam, Booker T, and WCW owner Shane McMahon. It’s the ultimate “loser leaves town” match.

Winners stay. Losers leave. On the undercard, we have two title unification matches (one of them in a steel cage, no less), a European title match, an immunity battle royal that protects the winner from being fired no matter which side wins, and for the first time in six months, a WWF Women’s Championship match.

Might be a WCW Women’s Championship match depending on the outcome. The Live Retro Blog will begin at 7pm ET. That’s 6pm CT, 4pm PT, 1pm Hawaiian, and midnight in Britain. Everywhere else, I trust you can do the math. All you need to participate is a working broadband Internet connection (I assume you have one since you’re on this site) and a good standing WWE Network subscription.

If you do not have the latter, you can get one. First month’s free if you’re a new subscriber (which is nice). Or if you don’t feel like giving your card number, you can get a WWE Network subscription card at a 7-Eleven or Walmart or Gamestop.

Greensboro was a hotbed for the NWA and later WCW. The building hosted the first two Starrcades and co-hosted the next two. Is this an omen for the WWF? We'll find out.

Basically, the theme of the evening, as you can probably guess, is survival. Three ways to keep your job: win or hold a championship, win the immunity battle royal, or hope like hell your team wins the main event. Jim Ross and Paul Heyman on the call for the last time together.

One of these men will not be in the booth tomorrow. Match 1: Christian defeated Al Snow to retain the WWF European Championship at 6:30. A little DYK: Christian won the European title on the November 1 Smackdown, but the match was cut from the show. So, if you can believe it, no video of the title change exists (that we know of).

Backstage, the Alliance is giving Stone Cold Steve Austin funny looks. Is he the defector? (Vince McMahon teased that there's a mole in the Alliance, and Vince flat out said it's Stone Cold.

Austin's got nothing to lose. His job's safe regardless of the outcome.

Maybe he is the mole.) Backstage, Vince is confident that his team will win because he's used to taking calculated risks. Alliance commissioner William Regal steps in and says Austin's pro-Alliance. Also, shit happens.

Highlights of Smackdown three days prior. Torrie Wilson catching a beatdown from William Regal sets up the forthcoming match.

Match 2: William Regal defeated Tajiri in 2:56. Post-match, Torrie Wilson runs into check on her boyfriend, but gets powerbombed for it by Regal.

Backstage, Test hits on Stacy Keibler. Match 3: Edge defeated Test to unify the WWF Intercontinental and WCW United States Championships in 11:17. The title that would be used going forward will depend on the outcome of the main event.

Edge countered a full nelson slam into a rollup to put the WWF on the board. Backstage, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley complains to Kurt Angle about losing her money and power and becoming a 'regular person'. Meanwhile, Lita wants to know what's the deal with Matt Hardy because he's been acting all funny lately. Brother Jeff doesn't know, but probably thinks it's stress. Then Trish Stratus appears, coming out of the locker room they were just in. Rules for the steel cage match: both members of a team escaping or one pinfall or submission to win. Match 4: The Dudley Boyz defeated The Hardy Boyz to unify the WWF and WCW Tag Team Championships in 15:29.

Matt Hardy escapes, leaving Jeff two-on-one. Jeff puts D-Von on the table and he wants to Swanton Bomb D-Von through the table. From the top of the cage. Of course he does. Jeff could have climbed down and won it, but he didn't. D-Von covers and the Dudleys unify the tag titles.

Mick Foley is at WWF New York and he says, if the commissioner has to answer to Vince McMahon anyway, then the commissioner position is a joke. (FUTURE EDDIE MAC files that away for later.) Backstage, Test beats down Scotty 2 Hotty and takes his place in the Immunity Battle Royal. Speaking of said battle royal, the winner has guaranteed job security for the next year, no matter who wins in the main event. Match 6: Trish defeated Ivory, Jacqueline, Lita, Mighty Molly, and Jazz in 4:21 to win the vacant WWF Women's Championship. In a choice of six, Trish was maybe ninth or tenth down the ladder. I thought for sure the debuting Jazz was going to win it. But that Stratusfaction's a cool-looking move.

In any event, Trish's job is secure. Also, Trish is insanely over. We'll see where it goes. Vince McMahon gives his 'if you lose, don't come home' speech backstage. I love how everyone's just standing there and The Rock's all jumping around.

Match 7: Team WWF defeats The Alliance 5-4 in a Winner Take All Survivor Series elimination match in 44:57.Order of elimination if you're wondering: Big Show (12:42), Shane McMahon (14:30), Kane (18:56), The Undertaker (20:03), Booker T (22:33), Rob Van Dam (27:48), Kurt Angle (32:22), Chris Jericho (36:50), Steve Austin (44:57). Vince was right: there was a mole. It wasn't Stone Cold; it was the man Austin turned on to win the Inagural Brawl for the Alliance four months prior, Kurt Angle. And amazingly, NOBODY brought this up on commentary.

Jubilation in the WWF locker room, despondence in the Alliance locker room. And Paul Heyman for the first time in months is speechless. And Vince raises his arms in triumph as we fade to black. EDDIE MAC'S QUICK REVIEW To say the least, the Invasion story deserved a better ending (like, at a Wrestlemania).

Hell, the Invasion itself deserved to be better. I think WWF realized it was beyond the point of saving and they wanted to get out from under it ASAP. The Invasion didn't have to be booked perfectly to make some serious money; just competently.

Some common sense. Some patience. Inspirational hd wallpapers for mac. Some willingness to check your ego at the door, and the WWF would have benefited for years to come. But as it has been shown before then and since, Vince Mcmahon would rather lose money being right than make money being wrong. That said, can I recommend watching this show?

Even though nothing screams 'must watch' outside of the main event, it's worth a look just for historical purposes. Then you can wonder what if they had a legitimate WCW/ECW team against a legitimate WWF all-star team. I'll go with a 7 out of 10 rating. Back next week with another Survivor Series live retro blog.
