Rated 5 out of 5 by pennmom36 from TOUCHDOWN!!!! When Home Run Solitaire was released, the first thing I said in my review was that I wasn't a baseball fan and that I had hopes that they would release a Football themed Solitaire game! Whether you're a Football fan or not, you'll still love this game because it's a really good Higher/Lower solitaire game with a ton of features. There are 10 different Football themed card backs and 3 face card font options to choose from, you can even choose custom cursors, one of which is a giant foam pointer finger. I hate it when you are forced to play a tutorial level that makes you choose specific cards that the arrow points to, because they never let you choose all available cards in a chain combo, but this game allows you to opt out of the arrow hint, yet still continue with the tutorial!
You can play in a Casual Mode with a high chance of special cards, and higher card points, a Normal Mode which gives you a normal chance for special cards and a normal point score, or a Hard Mode with a low chance of getting special cards, a lower point score and playing King to Ace and vice versa is not allowed. You can earn 4 Stars for a perfect game, and the levels can be replayed.
The Goal for each level is to remove all cards that have a football on them, however, you continue to play for points until all cards have been removed or you have no deck cards remaining. There is a Star Meter that shows your progression, and each level gives you 1 Undo Feature.
There are 20 Achievements to earn, and there is a section that allows you to play Freeplay, Tri-Peaks and 5 Peaks Solitaire games. (which isn't as easy to win as the main game is) Combos start at 6 consecutive cards, and you can earn bonus coins if you play the same suit card. There are Bonus Foundation Cards that show up, some give you extra Coins, some are Wildcards that can be used as any card number, but must be played. Jokers, however, turn into a specific numbered card and will be held on the right side until you use it. Some cards allow you to play an immediate Mini-Game such as a Match 3 game or a Pair Matching game, a Cup & Nut variation where you keep your eye on the football card and select the correct card after they do a shuffle dance. There is a game that requires you to kick the football between the goal posts by clicking when the arrow is in the center, and you get 3 chances to make a goal.
Some Cards are blocked and can't be removed until you uncover it's counterpart, such as an Injured Player Card needs the First Aid Kit Card, the Goal Post Cards need a Football Card, The Official Card needs the Whistle Card, The Grass Covered Card needs the Lawn Mower Card, the Lock Card needs the Key Card and some card require being played Twice to remove it. You can spend the cash you earn at the Shop to purchase 25 helpful cards and features. There's the usual Undo's, Shuffles, and Jokers as well as features that tell you how many Deck Cards remain, Reveal a percentage of face-down cards, increase the Multiplier, Earn more Points, Reduce the Combo requirements, alert you when you Miss a play, Add a Card, Remove a Card, add Helpful Cards, Increase Playable Cards and Joker chances etc. This game has all the features I like in a Solitaire game, customizable difficulty modes, the ability to choose my own cards during the tutorial, High/Low solitaire type, the ability to continue playing after the special cards have been removed, and a Free Play section. Give it a try, even if you don't like football or sports in general, I think you'll enjoy this Solitaire game. My purchase of yesterday's new release solitaire turned out to be a boo-boo!! Today's new solitaire makes up for my mistake. I am not a football fan, but this game has a lot to offer and the demo was mucho fun! So will try to tell you some of the things that made it worthwhile, for me. Graphics very sharp and colorful, runs smoothly, no delays of any kind and sound effects good, Although music nice, too mellow for football themed game and there was no actual field action. But get a 4 star perfect game and there are lots of balloons and cheering!
If you lose a game you can replay or skip. There are 3 game modes: easy, normal, hard.
I played normal entire demo, it was not very challenging for most of it but did finally start to get a little harder. So 200 levels a good thing. There are 3 card faces, small selection of backs and you choose your player. One redo each game and the cutest joker! Lots of mini tutorials to explain mini games and locked cards. Collect footballs and cash along the way.
Store has 24 items, use your purchase right away, all passive cards automatically added. At end of each game a display board shows your wins and progress: cash, star bonuses, multiplier, round total cash, biggest combo, total stars. Well, that's it for me. A much better detailed review will come along today.
Will say I think this is a pretty good solitaire, it wasn't boring. Fun right to the end of the demo. I will purchase in next good sale! Hope my 'good recommendation' doesn't steer you wrong!
Note 1: AA (Mid- Tier) and AAA games only. Feel free to list games that I have missed. Note 2: Games are named PC exclusive based on Official announcements from developers so far. Everything can change in the future. For Example: When Killing Floor 2 was listed it wasn't announced for PS4 at that time, now it's timed exclusive.
Note 3: At the beginning of every year, games that have already released last year are removed. It leaves more room for new games to be added and prevents the page from becoming too laggy. Note 4: If you want to see what games released in 2015 then past following link in google search bar: Then click on drop down menu and select 'cached'.
This will bring up old version of this thread full of games from previous year (2015). Star Citizen Genre: Space Sim. Sandbox Online Persistent Universe.
Developer: Cloud Imperium Games Trailer Squadron 42 (aka Squadron 42: Episode 1) Genre: Space Sim. Story driven Campaign (Star Citizen's Prequel) Developer: Foundry 42 Trailer Routine Genre: Survival Horror Developer: Lunar Software Trailer A Hat in Time Genre: 3D Platformer Developer: Gears for Breakfast Trailer Fortnite Genre: Base building, Coop Survival Developer: Epic Games Trailer Dreamfall Chapters (timed exclusive). All Episodes Released Genre: Adventure Game Developer: Red Thread Games Trailer Eve: Valkyrie (timed).
Man some of those trailers look really appealing, better get some of my backlog out of the way. Many thanks Cloud Imperium for creating this. A correction(?) and nitpick though: Cyberpunk 2077 is probably not exclusive and Divinity Original Sin and Might and Magic are better classified as turn-based RPGS, not action. Edit: somehow missed your disclaimer about what qualifies as exclusive. Nevermind about Cyberpunk in that case. Thanks for info. Thanks:-) You're welcome. And thank you for this awesome thread!
Lots of great games coming to PC, good times ahead:) Yep. Sadly websites like gamespot doesn't cover games like these and only deal with articles related to Titanfall and Xbox VS PS4 for click baits.
Yeah, but that's the reality. I don't see it as sad. PC has games that appeal to a great number of niches, which makes it very unique and very appealing to some people, but the games and genres stay niche and don't get the coverage that big (console) games get. And in the end PC wins I think because it gets big games like Titanfall and Watch Dogs which get lots of coverage and very small, niche games. Console games also get more coverage because they are fewer and more far between. Lots of hype is build up around them i.e. Halo or Infamous because they need to sell systems.
The companies behind those games spend a lot of money on marketing and getting in the press. Money that a lot of PC developers don't have, or that they want to spend on other aspects. But PC does have a great community of people that are willing to put time into threads like these to inform eachother what games are coming out:). Thanks:-) You're welcome. A couple of games I saw at EGX this weekend that are worth mentioning: Monstrum: A first person horror game that is set for release late Q3 2014. Players find themselves on an abandoned ship that was built in the 70s and have to locate resources to help evade the monsters that hunt you and fix up an escape route. The game features a procedurally generated maze like environment and can be played with or without the Oculus Rift. Dream: Currently in early access on Steam, an atmospheric exploration game filled with puzzles and secrets.
You play as Howard Phillips, a graduate who gains an obsession with dreams only to confront mislaid concerns in the form of nightmares. This game can also be played with or without the Oculus Rift.
I have 33% discount codes for Dream, so anyone who is interested just PM me for one. (Valid till 6th April). MUST HAVE THIS. Don't care about any of the other pc stuff right now, I just finished a Gauntlet Legends/Dark Legacy game run and I must say I need more gauntlet! Cyberpunk 2077 is not a PC exclusive. Atleast they already told back in 2012 that it's planned for both next-gen consoles.
Also not many of these are 'big' titles, but more like indie. Looking very good, nevertheless. Thread description: ' Note: Games are named PC exclusive based on Official announcements from developers so far, everything can change in the future.' CDPR Announcement: 'It most probably will be,' he said.
'But we can't confirm or deny because it's too early for that.' Depends on opinion: For me a game with full voice acting, soundtrack, great visuals and gameplay (Like most of these games) are more AAA than mainstream press A to win interactive movies/garbage. MUST HAVE THIS. Don't care about any of the other pc stuff right now, I just finished a Gauntlet Legends/Dark Legacy game run and I must say I need more gauntlet!
Cant wait for Gauntlet, used to love this game on my Amstrad CPC back in the day.
